CAHC ACCREDITS PERSONAL CARE AND IN-HOME SKILLED NURSING SERVICES

The Personal Care and In-Home Skilled Nursing services accredited by CAHC are intended to provide patients with needed care at home as an alternative to stays in facilities such as hospitals or nursing homes.

All such services are subject to compliance with the appropriate CAHC Accreditation Program, regardless of how the services are being paid for.

The Accreditation Programs for Personal Care and In-Home Nursing services are independent of each other. A provider may seek accreditation for either or both services.

Personal Care Services

These services are provided by a New Jersey Board of Nursing certified homemaker-home health aide, as defined by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.

The certified homemaker-home health aides perform activities including:

- Providing personal care, meal preparation, and assistance with daily living activities.
- Promoting safety and independence in the home.
- Following the tasks listed in a written care plan developed by the registered professional nurse.
- Working under the direct supervision of a registered professional nurse.

In-Home Skilled Nursing Services

These services are curative, restorative, preventive, and palliative care
prescribed by the patient's physician. A New Jersey licensed nurse
(an RN or LPN) performs ordered care in accordance with a nursing plan of
care developed by a registered professional nurse.
