The Commission on Accreditation for Home Care (CAHC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1986 to meet the growing demand for accountability in New Jersey's rapidly expanding home care industry.

CAHC has developed Standards to ensure that patients receive services meeting established guidelines and industry practices. The Standards cover organizational, personnel and clinical aspects of the home care agencies' operations.

The Commission performs periodic audits of the accredited agencies to ensure that they comply with the Standards as well as other policies and procedures defined by CAHC. The Standards, policies and procedures are collectively known as the Accreditation Program.

CAHC has two distinct Accreditation Programs:

• The Homemaker-Home Health Aide program, developed in 1986, and
• The In-Home Skilled Nursing program, developed in 1995.

An agency may be granted accreditation for one or both programs.
