The scope of the Commission on Accreditation for Home Care’s Standards covers organizational, personnel and clinical aspects of the provider’s operations.

HOME CARE AGENCIES MUST MEET CAHC STANDARDS TO ACHIEVE ACCREDITATION

The Standards, policies, and procedures are collectively known as the Accreditation Program. In order to earn and maintain accreditation, home care agencies must have an annual on site monitoring visit by an RN Field Nurse Surveyor(s) to ensure that the agency complies with the Standards as well as other policies and procedures defined by the Commission on Accreditation for Home Care.

CAHC Standards include the following:

  • Licensure
  • Corporate structure
  • Accountability of operations
  • Advertising and marketing
  • Provider policies and procedures
  • Personnel selection
  • Supervision and evaluation of staff
  • Requirements for clinical record keeping
  • Regular nursing visits to monitor the provision of care
  • Performance quality improvement
  • Risk management
